The Hills are on Fire

This weekend we drove up to Guanella Pass in search of the fabled fall colors of the Aspens.  Since we missed it last year, we wanted to be sure to experience it this year.  As you can see, we weren't dissappointed!  Enjoy!

Welcome to Autumn...

At the summit of Guanella Pass.

Meadow and her favorite tree...the Aspen.

The colors of fall...

Peering through the Aspens.

Fire in the hills...

Some of the trees were a deep orange...

The road less travelled...

Clear Creek.

The forest floors are littered with color...

You can't stage a better photo...

Not a bad location for a log house...

My attempt at an artsy shot...

This is where the colors really exploded...

We came upon a herd of 11 big horn sheep.  It was our first sighting of them. Until now, we didn't believe they existed.

Blue skies and yellow Aspens...Colorado in a nutshell.

More fire in the hills near Grant.

These pools were on the summit of Guanella pass at 11,669'.

Happy October everyone!

Thanks Tiff. It's hard not to take a good picture with such scenery though.

Photos are great! I hope I have a chance to visit some time, and try my hand with a camera. Beautiful country.
