Hail in Cripple Creek

Yesterday, we went to the old mining of Cripple Creek which is at an elevation of 9,500'. We had never been there and thought it would be a nice day trip. It was sunny and 82 at home, but as we were coming down from the pass into Cripple Creek, it started raining and then hailing like we've never seen before. It felt like the car was getting pelted by golf balls for about 30 minutes, and the temperature dropped sharply to 42 degrees. The hail was piling up on the roads and was very slushy which was challenging to drive through. It was a very neat experience though, and just goes to show you, if you don't like the weather in Colorado...wait 5 minutes.

Yeah, it was really weird. Something you don't see every day!
